Slafnet Workshop at the International Slavery Museum, Mauritius

To conclude the Mauritius contribution to the SLAFNET/SLAMNARET project, an activity was organized on 23rd August to coincide with UNESCO’s Day of Remembrance of the Abolition of Slave Trade. This activity took place in collaboration with ISM Mauritius who has offered the venue. The activity consisted of:

  • Launch of a pilot project: ‘Inventory of Materials on slave trade, slavery, indenture and other forms of unfree labour in the Southwest Indian Ocean’
  • A two -hour Online Workshop on ‘Towards an Intercontinental slave trade and slavery database for Mauritius and the region?
